About Us

Located in Fortville Indiana, just minutes from Interstate 69, our address is 8596 West 1000 South.

Our  kennel is designed to meet the needs of all breeds of dog, and to allow  a peaceful atmosphere for your family pet. We provide short and long  term dog boarding to fit your needs.  We have 7 runs in our dog boarding  facilities, all are 5x8 and each allows your pet to feel safe and  secure while staying with us. Our runs are climate controlled for the  comfort of your canine friend and 5 of our runs  provide optional outside access (usable only during periods when climate control is not necessary due to outside temperatures.)

Exercise  is a fundamental aspect of every healthy canine's life, and at  Headlee's Kennels we facilitate play and exercise time within a safe and  secure play yard several times a day. Our staff will play Frisbee,  tug-of-war, ball, and any other games your dog might enjoy upon request.

Unlike  some corporate kennels, we have someone on the property 24-7 to insure  the safety and well being of our canine guests. Messes are attended to  immediately and our observant staff is well trained and ready to handle  any situation.

NOTICE: New and returning clients are reminded to check out our Boarding  Requirements page for specifics on what you can expect and what we  require for the expert care of your family friend!

Boarding Check list

Food:  Substantial quantity to provide nutrition for your canine during his/her stay at the kennel. Clearly Label food container with pet name and feeding amounts.Treats: are optional but if your pet is used to a tasty reward for good behavior, please bring it in.

Accessories:  Your dog must arrive with a collar, lead or leash, and his/her tags. This does not mean your dog must wear the collar the entire length of his/her stay but it is necessary for handling during daily operations.

Toys/Bones:  Toys should be large and made of approved materials. We strongly discourage stuffed animals as dogs may be nervous their first few days with us and nervous dogs tend to chew more. Bones made of rawhide, pig ears, cow ears and other tough to chew edibles are welcome and may help relieve some of your pet’s stress.

Bedding:  Dogs in a new environment like familiar things. Their beds or favorite blankets are the best way to help a canine adjust to new surroundings. Please ensure all bedding is clean and fresh.

Medications:  As our canine companions age, they suffer from an array of ailments. Our goal is to make your dog’s stay with us as comfortable as possible. We are trained in the application of pet first aid and in the techniques for giving intramuscular injections such as insulin for diabetic dogs. For those dogs taking medication in pill form requiring a delivery system other than their normal food please supply it (i.e. peanut butter, cheese, etc.).

Boarding requirements

Our foremost requirement for the care of your canine, the health of our other guests, and the safety of our staff, is that all vaccinations for Canine Distemper, Parvovirus, Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies be up to date. These vaccinations are often referred to as “Core Shots” and may vary slightly from vet to vet. Proof of vaccinations provided by your veterinarian is required prior to check in and may be faxed to us directly from your vet’s office @ 317-747-4268.

Important!  We do not provide pet food at Headlee's Kennel, and require that you bring an appropriate amount of food in a covered container or bag with your dog’s name and feeding requirements written on it at the time of check in.

To help your dog feel more at home we do encourage you to bring his/her favorite toy, blanket or bed. We do ask that bedding materials be clean and fresh!

We love our dogs and understand the needs of our aging friends. Medications are a part of many dogs lives these days and we pride ourselves in providing the best care possible for our canine guests. If your dog is currently taking medications please provide the required quantities and specific instructions for the administration of the medication to our friendly staff upon check in
